These units of competency relate to the Transport Industry, and specifically to the pilot and escort activities in the movement of oversized and /or overmassed loads.

COURSE AIM

The aim of this course is to ensure that the participants at the end of the training have a full understanding of what is required to be a Western Australia (WA) authorised pilot when moving Oversized and or overpassed loads (OSOM). 

It addresses also the requirements of carrying out the work in accordance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) regulations for piloting and escorting oversized and overmassed loads and relevant state/territory roads and traffic authority licence/permit requirements. It includes the preparation for pilot/escort operations, carrying out communications regarding the operations and fulfilling all functions related to piloting escorting vehicles carrying oversized and overmassed loads.

TLIF3013 - Coordinate breakdowns and emergencies
TLIE3009 - Use pilot and escort communications
TLIF3060 - Control Traffic as a pilot vehicle operator
