Pilot Vehicle Operator Refresher (based on TLIF3060 – Control Traffic as a Pilot Vehicle Operator)

Courses

This course is designed for Level 2 Certified Pilot Vehicle Drivers who are renewing their accreditation in Victoria. It provides the essential skills and knowledge refresher required to continue escorting oversize vehicles safely and in compliance with VicRoads / Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) requirements.

The refresher draws on the nationally recognised unit TLIF3060 – Control traffic as a pilot vehicle operator, but is delivered as a non-accredited short course. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance, which satisfies the Department of Transport’s requirements for CPVD renewal.

Course Content

The refresher reinforces key knowledge areas required of certified pilot vehicle drivers, including:

  • Apply traffic control procedures
  • Coordinate traffic in the vicinity of oversize loads
  • Maintain effective communication with drivers, authorities and other road users
  • Use and maintain prescribed equipment (stop/slow bats, warning devices)
  • Apply current legislative and compliance requirements
  • Review of case studies and practical scenarios based on TLIF3060
