Motor School is a registered training organisation, offering a comprehensive unit of competency focused on 4x4 vehicle recovery. This course is perfect for corporate clients looking to increase their team's skills and safety in 4x4 vehicle recovery.
Key Elements of Our Four-Wheel Drive Recovery Course:
Identifying Loads, Ratings, and Equipment Serviceability: Our course helps you understand and calculate the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) for safe 4x4 recovery operations. This includes estimating recovery load, identifying the rating and labels of recovery gear, spotting rated recovery points on a vehicle, and choosing appropriate equipment based on GVM and load estimates. We also teach you how to assess the serviceability of your recovery equipment.
Recovery Planning: Safety is paramount when dealing with 4x4 vehicle recovery. We'll guide you through safety procedures, risk assessment, and environmental protection measures. You'll also learn about emergency procedures, site surveying for recovery strategy, and how to inform relevant personnel about your recovery strategy and location.
Performing Kinetic Rope or Strap Recovery: Effective communication is key during a recovery operation. Our training ensures you understand when and how to initiate and halt the recovery process. This module covers the set-up of kinetic ropes/straps, fitting ropes/straps to approved recovery points, joining two kinetic ropes/straps, positioning dampeners, and performing a safe recovery.
Performing Winch Recovery: You'll learn how to maintain clear communication throughout the recovery operation. We'll train you in initiating and terminating recovery, laying out essential equipment, and performing various types of winch recovery operations, including single line, double line, and change of direction pulls.
Using Other Recovery Tools and Equipment: Our comprehensive four-wheel drive recovery course also includes training on using other essential tools, such as shovels and traction boards, for effective vehicle recovery.
Maintaining Vehicle Recovery Equipment: Finally, we guide you on how to clean, maintain, and check the serviceability of recovery equipment according to the manufacturer's requirements. We also cover recording equipment maintenance as per workplace procedures.
