RIIVEH201E – Operate light vehicle
INDUSTRIES:
This module encompasses the necessary competencies for operating a light vehicle within the Resources and Infrastructure Industries, particularly in the Mining, Gas, and Construction sectors. The course is applicable to light vehicles, defined as weighing under 4.5t. This course is designed as a defensive driving course for the industry.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
The course aims to equip participants with skills to manage routine operational servicing, perform operator maintenance, and follow defensive driving techniques to avoid hazards. The goal is to help participants drive responsibly and prevent incidents, even under adverse conditions.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Plan and prepare for light vehicle operations.
- Execute light vehicle operations.
- Perform operator maintenance.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
This course is primarily intended for individuals employed in roles that involve operating light vehicles. Please note that it is not a four-wheel drive course.
- Prerequisites: Participants must possess a valid driver’s license for the relevant vehicle class.
- Duration: 1 day.
- Start Time: The course commences promptly at 7:30 am.
- Finish Time: The course is expected to conclude by 4:30 pm. However, as this is a competency-based program, the finish time may vary based on the number of participants and their ability to achieve competency.
- Location: Motor School, situated at 137 Sandgate Road, Albion QLD 4010, or an alternative training location as designated by Motor School.
- Dress Code: Students are to wear suitable clothing based on their work requirements, such as long trousers, long-sleeved shirts, and clean enclosed shoes with good traction.
Required Items:
- Current driver’s license
- Unique Student Identifier (USI) – Obtainable at www.usi.gov.au
- Clean enclosed shoes with good traction
- Eye protection
- Gloves for manual handling
INCLUSIONS:
The Brisbane office course includes morning tea and offers the use of our modern vehicle fleet. However, participants are encouraged to use their own vehicles.
